Reconstruction of turbine foundation No. 3 & 5 at Neumünster Municipal PP
Project Renovation of turbine foundation No. 3 & 5 at Neumünster Municipal Power Plant |
Scope of supply 16 prestressable GERB spring elements, type GP |
Owner Neumünster Municipal Power Plant, Germany |
Project execution Turbine No. 3 in 2003 Turbine No. 5 in 2004 |
Problem The foundation of Turbine No. 3 with a capacity of 25 MW had settled over the years by about 6 cm, although quite equally. |
|
Measures taken As a first step blocks of concrete corresponding to the height of the spring elements had to be cut out of each of the 6 columns to provide space for the installation of the spring elements. GERB organized a procedure to cut up to 38 cm high blocks out of the 1.2 x 1.2 m wide columns based on the use of a diamond rope saw. Only then it was possible to install spring elements in the structure of the originally rigid table type turbine foundation. Thereafter it was possible to realign the spring-supported system in an easy way on spring level. Later-on the same levelling procedure can be used at any time again and again as far as ever necessary. |
